NEW REWARDS galore! 8 days left!!!

Christy Pessagno has kindly donated a 1 hour crash course in Photoshop. For $150 she will teach you the basics (and some tricks) that will have you on the way to Photoshop greatness in no time. 3 sessions are available and you will not be dissappointed, she’s got mad skills.

I was inspired by Christy’s offer, so in kind I will be also be giving a 1 hour crash course in Final Cut Pro.  I’ll teach you all the basics and some pro shortcuts that will turn you into a superstar editor. I have been working as a commercial editor for the last 4 years, including 2 years at the Emmy-award winning production company Shilo (shilo.tv) so I like to think I know what I’m doing :)

In addition to those rewards my good friend Jibz Cameron aka Dynasty Handbag has kindly donated 20 limited-edition signed tote bags for $20!

Tell your friends and family!

There is a ways to go still but with your help in spreading the word it is still possible!

Thank you!

Queer Families & DOMA

As I celebrated the news yesterday that President Obama declared the Defense of Marriage act unconstitutional, I kept thinking of my oldest sister Julianne’s family and what effect this would have on them.

Julianne lives with her amazing partner Susan and their two adorable kids. Julianne gave birth to both children and Susan has legally adopted them in a 2nd parent adoption that is only allowed in 9 states. It is a crucial issue for queer parents to be able to have equal rights to their children and to not be shut out in any way because they are not biologically related.

You can read more about this kind of adoption here:

http://www.hrc.org/issues/2385.htm

I am intrigued that Julianne’s life has been layered with different facets of adoption and by the fact that we are both lesbians. I am thrilled to be able to explore this more in “Before Us.” My family encompasses so many things and the closer I look the more spectacular it all seems.

Please pass this on to any queer families you know and tell them to donate to a documentary that will feature a beautiful family with two lesbian moms.

And lastly, I think these quotes by U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand are spot on-

“Sexual orientation discrimination has no place in American law. I commend the Obama administration for upholding this American value today by concluding this statute is unconstitutional.”

“The fact is that history is moving in a direction that ensures gay and lesbian couples are offered the same basic rights as everyone else – the right to get married, start a family and receive the full benefits that come with it, and be counted the same as everyone else. I look forward to the day when New York and all states accept this basic principle of fairness.

“The time for Congress to repeal DOMA is now, and I will work hard to make sure marriage equality becomes a reality for all.”
